COMMENT:

This shape came as a beautiful surprise to me (and believe me, it's so tough to surprise me)! I would have lived with "Freehand" as a shape definition, but, hey, the bowl, till about three quarters down, is as similar to a Bulldog as possible. I find the combination of the Bulldog, the Dublin, and the flattened bowl base absolutely gorgeous. There's so much uniqueness about the shape and yet it appears so familiar and conservative. I strongly believe this is the mark of a talented and experience pipe maker, and who would be more deserving of this description than Luigi Radice, the master! The pipe does stands on its own on a flat surface, in case you were doubting it. The well made tapered mouthpiece is a great choice and I know that it will be so comfortable to clench on.

COMMENT:

This is definitely a very elegant shape, and the whole trick lies in the bowl shape, combined with the short and acutely curved shank, along with the extra long tapered mouthpiece. A cleaner does pass, but it may require a little twist. The blast shows mostly Crossgrain (Ring Blast), with the grain on the shank being mainly Flame Grain. The pipe should appeal to those who prefer bent pipes that have a large bowl, without being heavy. The long mouthpiece should keep the smoke away from the eyes, and so it would make the pipe perfect also for reading and/or writing. Judging by the mouthpiece bit and button, I'm very confident that the pipe would be a pleasure to clench on, and if you decide to hold it in your hand, then you'll be enjoying the feel of the deep blast. What more could one hope for?!

COMMENT:

This is a truly stunning pipe, in so many ways, and to offer it for this too reasonable a price is a privilege. The pipe is first of all quite large, and I'm not describing it as an XL for nothing. The shape is that illusive, rare, and tough-to-make, Panel Billiard. You might be wondering why I'm not calling it a Liverpool or a Canadian. Well, that smooth, natural shank extension is not part of the shank but of the mouthpiece. Indeed the black acrylic mouthpiece is that small part that you put in your mouthpiece and the rest is briar. Imagine, just imagine, the amount of time and labor that went into creating this part of the pipe. The bowl is shaped into 8 different panels, with a smooth natural bowl top, exhibiting beautiful Bird's Eye. As this pipe was not made specifically for my site, it had a pre-carbonized bowl. Marzio Radice was kind enough to remove the black coating to reveal the beautiful bare wood. The grain is beautiful inside the tobacco chamber, with no visible flaws! Why on earth cover it with black!

COMMENT:

If someone came to me and asked what the word "Ringblast" means, I would not hesitate for a second to show him/her this pipe. Not only will I do that to show what Ringblast is, but also to show what FABULOUS Ringblast can be and why so many people are always on the lookout for perfect examples of Ringblast. Yes, this pipe is that good, that beautiful, and the Ringblast is that unbelievably impressive. To get an idea of how good it is, you need to look at the pictures and multiply that beauty by 4-5 times, just to get closer. I absolutely love the well-pronounced and quite uniform Bird's Eye on the bowl top. As a bonus, the pipe can rest on its own on a flat surface, which is a feature a lot of smokers like, since they don't have to worry about carrying a pipe rest/stand or have access to an empty and clean ashtray!

COMMENT:

I hope you look at the information above and the nomenclature on this pipe to realize that we don't have an ordinary pipe here. Not only is the pipe a light-colored Ringblast, but it is also stamped with the "G", denoting that it is Extra Large. Let's see why it is Extra Large. The bowl is 55mm (2.17 inches) in height and 49mm (1.93 inches) in diameter. While there is a special page for the Magnum pipes, I decided to add this one to this page, since it is not big enough for me to describe it as a Magnum. As we all know, size is relative, even when it comes to the Dunhill Group System. For this reason, I gave you the measurements so that you can decide, based on your own experience and requirements, how large this pipe is. Apart from the size, we have to remember that a Ringblast is rare, a good Ringblast is rarer, and an Extra Large Ringblast is as rare as they come. Now, put that in your pipe and smoke it ;-)
