COMMENT: There are three different, yet similar, shapes that came to mind when I was trying to determine the shape definition here: The Poker, the Cherrywood, and the Volcano. Though I decided on the first one, I had to add the word "freeform" due to the obvious reasons. The pipe shape is indeed familiar, and yet, it's nothing that I have seen before. The bowl with its flat, round base and bowl shape is closest to the classic Poker, but the slanted outer wall and the high base (notice that the base is lower than the shank base) make it a lot more than a simple Poker. Add to this equation the Lovat-like shank and saddle mouthpiece, and you got something quite especial. The bamboo shank is quite a treat, and it does take the pipe onto a whole new level of uniqueness. I've always liked the DG brown stain, and this pipe is no exception. The grain is a very attractive Flame Grain around the bowl, with some exquisite Bird's Eye on the bowl base. |
