COMMENT: You may know how hard it is for me to define a shape as a "Freehand" when there's a way around it. I just couldn't do this to this incredible pipe. I was literally taken aback by the beauty, the gracefulness, and the uniqueness of the design behind this pipe. The pipe offers an ultimate combination of extra large size and extra length, on the one hand, and surprisingly low weight and impressive design, on the other. When I noticed the two small visible flaws (see the close-up on the second row), I called Bruto to inquire why he either didn't attempt to sand them away or down-grade the pipe. I wished I hadn't called! He said: "First, this is one of the most time-consuming shapes I have made recently, and I decided not to sand the bowl further in fear of ruining a shape that I believe should be exactly how it is now. As for the downgrading, the pipe, I believe, is already way below the grade it deserves. If you don't like it, send it back, and I'll never sell it. There's enough room in my display cabinet". I can't help but ask Bruto's forgiveness and declare that I fully agree with him. By the way, the pipe is so long it doesn't fit into the DC standard box without the mouthpiece removed. |
