COMMENT: Unusual as it is, I have used the term "Freeform Bell" before, but I have never used with so much conviction as I'm using it here. First of all, I used the "Bell" and not the "Dublin" to the very evident difference in diameter between the bowl top and base. As for the "Freeform" part, it is all due to the 6-paneled shape of the bowl. In all the years I have known, bought, and sold Cavicchi pipes, I don't recall having ever seen a pipe in this shape, offering this unique combination of features (Bell and panel). I find this combination to be more than elegant, more than unique. And the story doesn't stop there. The shank itself is a work of art, and it is shaped in a way that fully and gracefully complements the overall design of the pipe shape. The shape of the shank is that of a pyramid, and being Egyptian, I can't help but praise as much as possible ;-) To add to this symphony of shape designs, Claudio added a thin black acrylic band to the shank, followed by a gorgeous olivewood insert. It continues. He then make the mouthpiece meet the shank in the old-fashioned Army Mount way, adding a fabulous and elaborate silver band to it. Considering all I have said (and I haven't said everything), I have every right to state that this pipe is one of the best deals you can get within the Cavicchi selection, in particular, and in the pipe market, in general. |
